This hitch is HEAVY but well made - sticks out a bit more that other hitches I guess to accommodate a wide range of SUV's but people will be looking at you saying damn that hitch is just sticking out a bit too much especially the drivers behind you. Does the job and its a great sturdy and well made product.

I purchased this item and I really do love it except for the fact that tbe bolt/screw with the large gray handle (to lock bike rack when driving) has stripped after just 2 months of use and now i'm in the process of dealing w/ Thule and the manufacturer to get this replaced... This just happened this weekend so we'll see how long it takes!

The good: This rack works exactly as advertised. It's all steel and will certainly last many years. The price is the most attractive feature. This is a fraction the cost of the popular name units and performs just as well.



The bad: The thing is heavy. Really heavy. Don't forget to regularly check the tightness of nuts and bolts. A few more lock washers or nylock nuts might be a nice addition. The hitch piece needs to be a couple inches longer to clear the spare tire of a land rover discovery. (Or buy a small hitch extender.) It fits my pickup fine.



The ugly: Some of the welds look a little rough. Nothing that would compromise the ability to carry a few bikes, but it's certainly not perfect. The powder coat finish isn't the most durable. After a couple summers riding on the back of the wifes land rover it looks a bit faded and scratched.



For the price, I would certainly buy it again if I ever need to replace it.

When we decided to take 5 bikes to Yosemite so the whole family could ride at the same time, I had no clue how we were going to do it. Then I found these racks! They are amazing. (I bought the extender pack that allows for two more bikes to be carried, for a grand total of 6 bikes if needed.) These racks are easy to install, they are secure, they fit far enough back on the trailer that they don't inhibit turning radious IN THE LEAST, and are spectabular in every way. I don't have enough good words to say about them. Whoever invented this rack system for tent trailers is a genious. We went on some pretty bumpy roads and the bikes stayed exactly where we put them.

This is a great rack which is well designed and does not compromise the campers structural or weather tight integrity.



Pros: Parts fit together well and assembly is very straight forward. Quality of the material is very good and the design although simplistic is well thought out. Slides down out of the way when opening the tent trailer without having to remove it.



Cons: The buckles on the straps are plastic and do not survive a lot of tension. The back wheels tend to slide without a horizontal restraint.



Over all an excellent bike rack well worth it.

The overall quality of construction is very good. The only exception would be the plastic parts on the straps used to stabilize the bikes. From past experience these are sure fail points and will need to be replaced. The design works fairly well except the unit is prone to quite a bit of sway if the cross bar needs to be extended most of the way vertically.

This seemed to be the best option for a trailer mounted rack that could handle 2+ bikes that didn't require drilling into the roof of the trailer. Overall I'm still pleased with my purchase, though do feel it may be a bit overpriced.
