 "doesn't fit my beetle" 2008-04-12
By Mimsy
I just purchased this item and had to return it. It does not fit my 2000 Beetle. There is no lip over the rear window on my car to secure the bar. It was easy to return, Wish I had known it doesn't fit my car.

 "Does not work!" 2009-06-25
By Jason Hoomani (Franklin, TN USA)
I bought this device to stabilize a cargo rack. It did not work at all. I returned it and bought a Hitch-Vise, which cost more but works perfectly.

 "It's OK" 2009-06-23
By RSRCHB4UBY (CA USA)
This bike rack is OK. I feel a little uneasy using it for two bikes as it feels a bit flimsy.

I wish it had some sort of holders for bike frames (The way it is made the holder is just a metal pipe). Also, I think the tie is too short to secure TWO bikes (one is OK) I would use additional ties to carry two bikes.

 "Basic but effective" 2008-06-29
By J. VanDyke (Milwaukee, WI USA)
I was looking for a cheap but sturdy and easy to use trunk mounted bike rack and this one was great. It's a great value. It easily holds our two bikes and when properly installed on the car shifts very little (some shift is due to the give of the foam interfaces). I have driven with it on the interstate up to 75 miles per hour. It is important to note that the rack will shift more if the bottom strap (leading to under the bumper or under the hatch) is not pulled tight enough to distend the elastic section.

I recommend being careful when installing the rack as the hooks are metal and may damage the finish of the car. However, I have had no damage to mine as of yet by taking care not to allow the hooks to bang or drag across my car. If you are worried about it anyway, you might add a little rubber or foam padding to the hooks.

All in all, this is a great basic bike rack. Not bad at all for under $40.

 "Works great" 2008-06-07
By T. Talbot (Atlanta, GA)
Simple setup. Compact and sturdy. Affordable. It holds my bike with no problems doing 80mph on the freeway, or 10mph on bumpy back roads.

 "just what I wanted" 2007-12-31
By ASL4U (Rochester NY)
The product arrived very quickly, and I figured out how to attach it to my car (HHR) in 15 minutes but I did use the "wisdom" I'd seen from other reviews and have made paint protecting pads for the metal clips that hold this thing to the car.

My bike went on easily - I was nervous about tying it down and uncertain if it was going to move while I drove - but it was just fine. I even went on the freeway for a short distance (one exit) - no problems!

 "Excellent product" 2007-11-22
By Quotidian Blake (Bountiful, UT USA)
I bought this bike rack on a recommendation from my friend. I've hauled two bikes about 700 miles on 10 or 15 separate occasions and never had any problems. The pads are excellent, (and I've heard that's key if you don't want dings in your car.)
