 "Big Bikes Only and Front Tire Only" 2008-12-11

This is a great idea, but there are some drawbacks. First, it doesn't fit a 19" wheel unless there is enough clearance between the forks for the clamping unit to get completely through. On my kids Yamaha TTR 125L it doesn't work.



Second, forget clamping to the back tire. Front tire only on big bikes. I would have liked to see them design something that works for both, because if you're buying these you're most likely stacking bikes in a trailer. Best way for that to work is to alternate front to back. Most back tires are too big to fit into this unit correctly and the sprocket gets in the way.



Third, no way would I suggest travelling with just the chock clamp on the front tire. You have to use straps or tiedowns on the pegs or at the back of the bike for stability. Forget to do that, and you can kiss your front bearings goodbye.



My last suggestion for the company is to charged $10-$15 more and include thumbscrews or clamp type screws for easy removal. I used inserts underneath the floor and thumbscrews. Works well.



This is a good idea, but certainly not a ride in, clamp it down and off you go type setup.

I bought this for use with my enclosed trailer and my Yamaha 250 dirt bike. When shopping for wheel chocks I found this listed from one manufacturer but multiple sources (eBay, Amazon etc).



The one thing that wasn't obvious is the fact that this chock is designed with a pivot mechanism that actually locks the tire. You roll the bike in, wrap the bar over the top of the tire, and then push back down on a lever. In the picture it shows all parts draped over the top of the tire, but the person taking the picture didn't set it up properly.



The positive clamping action really works well, though you have to play with it a bit to get the right amount of tension. I now use no straps on the front of the bike at all, rather this chock on the front and a strap on each side at the back. The bike holds rock steady with this arrangement.

I found this to be a fairly well designed and made product. It is light weight enough to help in maximizing the load you can carry on your hitch. Good weld joints, solid steel main beam with aluminum racks and ramp make for a nice package. Also, its cheaper here on Amazon than buying it direct from their website, a nice plus, difference saves on the shipping cost. Although I have only one scooter, the dimensions allow me to carry the bike on the back behind my inbed camper, just have to remember that I am sticking out that far behind me now.

Need something safe and secure to haul your dirt bike around, and dont want to give up the space of your suv to buy a truck.

This is what you need. Now I can haul my CRF450R to the track on Saturday. Spend the night in the back of my Explore. Then race on Sunday.

Hauled the bike once so far,and everything went smooth. Even with 2 less tie downs then recommended. The anti- roll bracket works great.

Over all I'am very pleased with Discount Ramps and the AMC 400 bike hauler.





CONS: 1) Anti-roll bracket is a bit of a pain to tighten with the wrench given.



2) I think the hauler should be shipped with the hitch pin. Mine was not.(bought a locking pin anyhow)

This items is very lightweight. It does fit our Suzuki 250, length wise, but the ramp is very short and I nearly had a heart attack when we put the bike up there - the tires are a little wider than the ramp would prefer and the aluminum rack bent under the 310 pounds. It held and it's an easy, inexpesive rix for hauling our bike but hard to get the bike up there.

When going away for a weekend, or a month, and you just want the smaller bike without the hassel's of pulling the big hauler, then this hitch mounted rail is for you. I used it to carry my KLR650 and it did it very well. Over two thousand miles of use with no problems whatsoever. Just be certain that your hitch was designed for the load that you intend to carry.
